The Composition of an "HP Bar" [2]
For the purposes of this post, the acronym "HP" is completely disconnected from the words "Hit Points", instead standing as its own, recognizable, similar thing.
HP = Health + Armor + Energy + Favor
Armor
Armor is the stuff you wear so it doesn't hurt so bad when you get hit. "Armor" represents the amount of damage the armor you wear can soak before it fails. "Failure" doesn't necessarily mean "broken", it just means it can no longer soak damage.
Other notes
- Metal armors are highly prized and highly protective, but ill-suited for long journeys in the elements.
- Someone clothed normally starts with 1 armor, if only because the multi-layered robes can make it difficult to discern body from cloth.
- Armor doesn't have to break to become ineffective; a helmet can be knocked off.
- In combat, armor is one of the first wells of points to deplete.
Armor values to fill up the "Armor" section of the "HP Bar":
- +1 - helmet, greaves, guards
- +2 - shield, cloth armor, armored skirt
- +3 - leather armor
- +5 - ringmail
