My hubris will kill me.

This is an attempt at both "keep it simple stupid" and "all the fun things I want". It is a prime example of "have your cake and eat it too".

FAQ

Is it good? I have no idea, but probably not.

Did you have to do this? No, but also yes. It called to me like a siren and I don't have any beeswax (or rope).

How does it work? It's meant to simulate being whacked in combat without using HP and accounting for randomness, injuries, and armor. It's also meant to do it by rolling only 2d6. It's also meant to be as simple as possible (ha ha!).

Essentially, you have "Health", which is a fancy way of saying, "If you take too many injuries, the punishment is death". It's assigning a limit to the number of injuries/illnesses a PC can suffer before dying, because eventually they're going to die.

Injuries can happen from all kinds of sources - traps, falls, combat, etc. For combat specifically though, injuries aren't really predetermined. Yeah, I can aim for your head, but I could end up hitting your shoulder or chest (or whiffing). Thus, there's randomness involved in an attack, but landing it will do damage, even if minor.

It makes sense to me, and right now, I'm the only one having to deal with it, so that's good enough.
