Fidget Sign [Creature]
Fidget Sign
Universally, humanoids have come to an agreement, either separately or together, that knowing where you are going and how to get there are two important things. As such, crossroads often have signs which tell you which town is which way. A fidget sign is a quirk of this system, a trickster who seeks the simple pleasure of confusing people and ruining plans.
A fidget sign looks like a sign at a crossroads, down to the jot and tittle. It is extremely difficult to tell the difference between a normal sign and a fidget sign; from what I’ve read, the only difference is the color of the wood. Normal signs show signs of age, whereas fidget signs look new. Of course, it could just be a new sign too. It’s tricky. The only other potential help is a presence of holes in the ground, like those of common wildlife. Fidget signs burrow underground to move, so they leave small post holes around the crossroads.
The fidget sign, while viewed, doesn’t move or betray itself. It just tells you which way to go, or so you (the victim) think. In reality, it has shifted, spun, and moved around the crossroads countless times in the day, sending travelers different directions every time. Sometimes, just to really throw people off, it will send you the right way! A small price to play to continue its game.
